Manor Court, Pewsey
|
Manor Court, the first English Courtyard Association development designed by Paul Gibson of the Sidell Gibson Partnership, was strongly influenced by the beautiful Elizabethan almshouses of nearby Froxfield. Built in 1978 of warm red local brick and clay tile with traditional stone mullioned windows, it stands in the shade of the medieval church and former Manor house, in 3 ½ acres of landscaped grounds sloping down to the river Avon.

20 Cottages and 4 flats surround three sides of a Courtyard. Each cottage contains two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs – and a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and cloak/shower room downstairs – and possesses substantial additional storage in the attic. A garage for most properties is nearby. There are also 4 two bedroom apartments – and a comfortable guest room, where friends and family can come and stay.

The Courtyard benefits from 24 hour cover. Two Courtyard Managers, a husband and wife team, live on site: they act as good neighbours, maintain the grounds, oversee security – and they or their relief are available should any emergency arise.
