Ashcombe Court, Ilminster

Ashcombe Court, IlminsterIlminster, a bustling country town, the gateway to the West, like nearby South Petherton, built in the mellow honey-coloured stone from Ham Hill, draws its name from the river Ile and the word Minster, which denotes its Saxon religious origins. The magnificent perpendicular Minster, St. Mary’s Church, dating from the 15th century, dwarfs the town. The Square, with its pillared market and wide range of shops join the traditional with the functional, making it an ideal haven for the retired with country roots. The A303 passes through the centre of the town: 14 miles to the east lies Yeovil, with Taunton and the M5 12 miles to the north.

Fullands Court, Taunton

Fullands Court, TauntonTaunton, the county town on the river Tone, has a history stretching back to Saxon times. It is the rural, cultural and economic centre of Somerset - an area surrounded by beautiful country, abounding with historic houses and places of interest and on the edge the moors of Exmoor and the Quantocks. Taunton County Cricket Ground, the Racecourse, Golf courses, the Brewhouse Theatre and the Castle all add to the variety of life it offers – as do its excellent communications. The M5 exit gives easy access to the Midlands and the South West, whilst its excellent fast train service allows one to be in London, Paddington in 1 ¾ hours; Bristol in 1 hour and Exeter in 30 minutes.

Hayes End Manor, South Petherton

Hayes End Manor, South PethertonSouth Petherton, on the river Parrett, is a beautiful North Somerset village, built in warm honey-coloured Ham stone, quarried from nearby Ham Hill. It possesses all the advantages and amenities of a small town with its bank, hospital, public library, doctor’s surgery and a wide variety of shops in the shadow of the glorious octagonal tower of the church of St. Peter and St. Paul. South Petherton lies just north of the A303, 6 miles east of Ilminster, 11 miles west of Yeovil and 18 miles south east of Taunton - with its fast network of trains to London and the South West.
